Traditional Croatian warior uniform - it reprisents the sory of Cravat (Tie).

We all wear a cravat around the neck at least occasionally. If we don’t wear it regularely, we must have a good reason to put it on; and if we wear it every day, then we want to emphasize our importance or just draw attention. By wearing a cravat we attract attention and send a message to other people.

A scarf was tied around the necks of Croatian men and boys. That was the sign of farewell before going to the battle. Perhaps this very emotional moment was crucial in transforming a piece of fabric, whether it was a silk, cotton or linen, into something more than an ordinary scarf. A girl or a woman gives a scarf as a present to her Croatian warrior to keep her in his mind, and a warrior wears it as a sign of fidelity to his beloved. I wonder if all that fear, uncertainty, longing as well as many questions in the minds of women and men before going to the battle, were woven into the ordinary piece of fabric so that became so remarkable and generally accepted.

A scarf tied in a special way around the necks of Croatian warriors, was a symbol of fidelity and support in the most difficult moments, so it had a special meaning.

Later this detail was mostly accepted as a fashion accessory, thanks to prominent figures in history and it was named cravat after Croatian mercenary cavalrymen.
